For more than 30 years, I have been working in the hospitality industry. I have owned/co-owned and managed various bars, restaurants and clubs in Copenhagen and London, I have been running my own PR/Event company for many years, which has given me the pleasure of organising and planning numerous events over the years, ranging from private and corporate events, product launches, art, music and fashion events, charity events, VIP and celebrity parties, as well as planning individuals private social life.

This have given me a solid background and experience in special event organisation and today my global network makes it possible to tailor-make and organise even the most special tasks and requests - that is why Ivantainment was launched in 2004, offering a range of exclusive services, easy to access whether you are a VIP member or a one-off user, always handled with the utmost discretion.

All my various experiences combined with a personal knowledge of many different business individuals have naturally brought me into a structured broker business - ranging from property, commodities, art, various fundings and sourcing, etc and I am the director of Global Services & Brokering Limited, operating internationally out of London.

At the ripe old age of 15 Ivan started to DJ in his father’s club, one of the first discotheques in Roskilde in 1974, he then went on to become his school’s events organiser and promoter. While continuing his education, he began to freelance as an event planner in venues in Copenhagen. He spent a year as an exchange student in the US and finished business school in 1982. 

Ivan joined the Danish Army right after school and continued 2 years as a sergeant. After leaving the Army he carried on with his studies of the English language, graduating in 1986 as an English correspondent and in marketing.

In 1987 he founded the Gentleman’s Society (Foreningen af 1987) and was the chairman and secretary for the first 13 years before moving to London. and he is now back in the Chairman seat celebrating their 31st anniversary.

Ivan had a 2 years sales manager position at the Plaza Hotel in Copenhagen and in 1989, he co-launched and managed one of the biggest clubs in Denmark for 3 years called Axel Dancebar - a 1000 guests capacity venue - the biggest in the country.

Ivan bought the venue Jarlen in 1992, with a good friend and turned it into an intimate dining venue with late dancing. The year after he took over the exclusive private members club Njet-Z in Copenhagen. He also launched and introduced The Joshua Club in Copenhagen in 1994, an exclusive LA founded and based society club, which created a lot of media attention.

Over the years Ivan and his PR/Event company has been responsible for numerous events/launches from fashion shows to art and cultural/sport events, concerts, several charity events working with Save the Children, AIDS-Fondet, Cancer Research and the publication of a year 2000 charity calendar including collections designed by the top haute couture of Denmark and worn by 12 female Danish celebrities. He even imported French children's clothing (Clayeux), swimwear (Kindy) and hosiery (Gerbe) for a couple of years.

In 1998, Ivan opened up an all members nightclub/brasserie called Couch and he managed this venue until his departure to London in December 1999 to seek new challenges in a big city.

Ivan decided to take a short break in Mexico before settling in London and on his return, went right back into the club scene like a fish takes to water. For 6 months he was the manager at L’Equipe Anglaise; moving on as a promoter in some of the best venues in Central London, the Mayfair Club, Browns, Opium, Hakkasan, The Wellington Club, Noble Rot, Attica, Embassy - a good way of getting familiar with the London party scene.

In May 2002 he took over Kabaret from the legendary Piers Adam with 2 partners. Kabaret was sold in March 2004, and Ivan decided to set up his own company for social life planning and concierge service called Ivantainment. The website was launched in April 2004. Since then he has worked with all the hottest venues in town, organised numerous events and parties and occasionally shown his Old Skool DJ skills around town. Ivan is married and has 3 kids, 27, 25 and 12 and a proud grandad since 2016. He is a keen golfer (handicap 19), he likes to stay in shape in the gym or go for a jog. He is a movie buff and prefers thrillers and biographies and loves his cigars and hats.
